ZATI, the Zanzibar Association of Tourism Investors, is a non-governmental, non-political, membership-based organization that represents the interests of Zanzibar’s tourism private sector. We advocate for sustainable tourism practices, influence policy, and provide support and resources to our members to help them thrive in the industry.
- ZATI asks of its members that they offer a quality tourism product in their field of expertise, uphold high standards of business ethics, respect the customs and culture of Zanzibar, follow all labor, fiscal and environmental regulations, and where possible actively buy locally and employ locally by encouraging projects that involve or benefit their local community.
- Annual membership is offered to Tanzania and/or Zanzibar-registered companies operating in the tourism sector, holding valid business licenses issued by relevant authorities, and registered with the TRA and/or ZRA.
To apply for membership, simply fill out the membership application form on our website, provide the necessary company information, and submit the form. Once your application is reviewed and approved, you will receive an invoice for the annual membership fee.
Members gain access to a wide range of benefits, including policy advocacy, networking opportunities, legal support, business resources, discounts from other members, and the ability to influence the direction of the tourism industry in Zanzibar.
ZATI actively engages with the Zanzibar government and other stakeholders to promote policies and regulations that benefit the tourism industry. We represent our members' interests in discussions on taxation, infrastructure, safety, and more, ensuring that their voices are heard in key decision-making processes.
Members are encouraged to participate in ZATI’s various initiatives, such as attending stakeholder meetings and networkings, joining workshops and seminars, and engaging in our advocacy efforts.
ZATI communicates with members through newsletters, emails, social media updates, and our official website. We also hold regular meetings and events where members can stay informed and engage with the association.
Generally, ZATI meetings and events are exclusive to members. However, certain events, such as public consultations or industry-wide workshops, may be open to non-members.
